Xylitol the Superhero of Sugars

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Xylitol is a natural sweetener made from birch bark that can actually heal and repair what other sugars wreck. Where normal sugar can strip the body of vitamins and minerals, Xylitol stabilizes insulin and hormone levels and promotes good health. Eating one of our Xylitol candies is like being rewarded for having a sweet tooth. (more…)

Tis the season for candy – Healthy Halloween, all!

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

We’re gearing up for the onslaught of candy seekers with some healthy alternatives to the usual sugary sweets that are usually handed out on All Hallows’ Eve.

Our main offering in that regard is the Halloween Packet:

  • 2 lollipops
  • 1 piece of taffy
  • 1 fun ‘temporary’ tattoo
  • 25 or 100 count packets per order

No tricks… just (healthful) treats!

We are also happy to add an already-popular hard candy to our Candy Store: Xylitol Rainbow Discs . . . not only do they taste great, but the benefits of Xylitol are becoming more and more apparent. Test your testbuds’ reaction today!

Xylitol’s Added Benefits

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

From the Emerald Forest website:

Oral and Dental Health
When considering your children’s health, and what they eat, it’s also important to recognize the benefits of using xylitol. Studies have shown that gums and candies sweetened with xylitol reduce tooth decay, as well as stop or reverse existing cavities. It’s recommended that children and adults use 6-7 grams of xylitol per day to get the maximum protection against tooth decay.

“Another benefit of xylitol is its ability to prevent inner ear infections. Children and adults who chew xylitol gum on a regular basis are less prone to ear and upper respiratory infections. Studies have shown that xylitol prevents the growth of bacteria in the eustachian tubes (auditory tubes or pharyngotympanic tubes) which connect the nose and ear.”

Dr. John’s Candies is hard at work producing great candy that contains up to 2 grams of Xylitol per piece of sugar free candy. We’re excited about the possibilities!
